KNL
JORC Current 14.9Mt, grading 10.5% TGC, for 1.56Mt of contained graphite (Maybe 100mt potential who knows)
KNL Ore tested a sample at approx 10% GrC
Step 1 Flotation. Which was concentrated via simple at flotation is 87% to 97% Graphite from Small (<75 Microns) to Extra Jumbo Size>500 Microns).
Step 2 Chemical. Then they have to perform a chemical purification (Acid in this case) to above concentrate and then dry whats left to 400 degrees Celsius
Result: was concentrate to 99.94 to 99.72 % from Small (<75 Microns) to Extra Jumbo Size>500 Microns)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TON
JORC - 103 MT @ 5.2% TGc (Excluding the recent discovery of Nicanda Hill)
TON - Have only just discovered ore up to 17% Graphite on Nicanda Hill and we have not had the metallurgical results as yet but large flake has been verified onsite. So the best metallurgical information that we have is from Cobra Plains Low grade 5-6% Graphite ore some 5-10 km's to the South of Nicanda Hill and neighbour approx SYR 20km south
TONS Cobra Plains Metallurgic results:-
Step 1 Flotation . TONS concentrate produced was 86.5 to 97.1 from Small (<75 Microns) to Large ( >300 Microns)
Step 2. Chemical - Results not yet available
RESULTS: Still pending
SUMMARY
So in summary KNL currently has a tiny Jorc (14.9 Mt) of which only approx 21% by mass is Large/Jumbo flake they have purified via a 2 step process flotation and chemically to 99.94% ...
TON's currently has 4th largest deposit 103 Mt @ 5.2% in the world ..this "Inferior ore" from cobra plains produces similar grade concentrate from the flotation step 1 as KNL's ore did and I'd hazard a guess it will also purify to 99.94% with the step to chemical purification. But wait Ton have also identified an extremely large higher grade deposit at Nicanda Hill. In fact likely to be billions of tonnes with large flake widespread. There are large amounts of 17% Graphite present on Nicanda Hill which also has large flake (and possible Jumbo size). I will hazard a guess that TON will eventually Jorc up more large flake than KNL's entire 14.9MT Jorc Resource...
All graphite hopefuls should be worried ... why? ... Because if TON/SYR can flotation & chemically refine to 99.94 or better then almost all other similar grade graphite hopefuls will likely be put to sleep by the vast economies of scale and thus extreme low cost per tonne that these two will be able to bring to market.
So what is the best strategy for these Graphite minnows ? Lock in long term offtake agreements ASAP before SYR /TON squash the competition and that's what they are attempting to do. See LMB and KNL offtakes. However it is not unknown for offtake contracts to be broken to pursue much lower cost supply. SYR recently under cat the market price by US$500/ Tonne to force market share.
SYR - Just a Word on SYR's Balama Deposit ore to the South.
SYR state that metallurgical testwork on Balama East flake graphite shows that 58.3% of the processed material is coarse to very coarse (80+ mesh and above).. Uncomplicated graphite metallurgy via flotation achieved high grade concentrate (96-98% TGC) and high recovery (92%) with Low levels of ash, volatile, moisture and sulphur
Also note that SYR State that spherical graphite was produced from fine grained Balama graphite (100 μm) resulted in a finer grained sphere which is ideal for lithium ion battery use. Similarly SYR have not yet chemically refined their flotation concentrate.
I'll bet that SYR will also be able to refine to 99.4% or better.
So if they prove up to 99.4 or better then the I would sell the minnows and buy the monsters TON/SYR.
All is IMHO DYOR to Confirm |
