Senior Health care card
Eligibility
To qualify, you must:
1, be an Australian resident, living in Australia
2, not subject to a newly arrived residents waiting period
3, have reached age pension age but do not qualify for Age Pension[2] (or do not receive certain other Social Security/Veteran Affairs pensions/benefits)
4, provide Centrelink with your and your partner's tax file number or be granted an exemption from providing your and your partner's tax file number, and
5, have an annual adjusted taxable income* of less than:
$50,000 (singles)
$80,000 (couples combined), or
$100,000 (couples combined who are separated due to ill health).
*This limit is increased by $639.60 for each dependent child you care for.
Note: Dependants of Commonwealth Seniors Health Card holders are not eligible for concessions using the cardholder's card.
Health Care Cards
Eligibility
You may be eligible for a Health Care Card if you are below age pension age[1] and you get any of these payments:
* Carer Allowance (caring for a child under 16 years)[2]—the Health Care Card is for the child in your care only
* Carer Payment (caring for a child under 16 years)[3] for short-term or episodic care under 6 months
* Exceptional Circumstances Relief Payment for farmers[4]
* Exceptional Circumstances Relief Payment for small businesses[5]
* Family Tax Benefit Part A[6] (maximum rate only)
* Mobility Allowance[7] (if you are not receiving Disability Support Pension[8])
* Newstart Allowance[9]
* Parenting Payment [10] (partnered)
* Partner Allowance[11]
* Special Benefit[12]
* Widow Allowance[13]
* Youth Allowance[14] (job seekers only)
