Gladesville is a very NICE suburb! Great location! The landscaping you did can surely add value to the house.
Before you did landscaping, did you refer any books? Your design is quite smart. I woul ...
I did read some books and search the internet for some ideas. But when goes to the final design, I think few rules have to be followed. Firstly, know your home well. If you have very limited space, don’t build something bulky in you garden. Secondly, try to blend the garden with your existing house. I have chosen the sandstone for the retaining wall as well as all the garden edge, because they match my house. Thirdly visiting the houses with the established garden to get some ideas. Few months ago, there was a house in Gladesville sold for 1.94 million and because the owner is the landscaper, he had put a lot effort in the garden over the years (http://www.domain.com.au/Public/ ... spx?adid=2007649735). The hours it self is not that spectacular but when it stands next to the garden, everything looks so perfect. The real-estate agent had arranged the open house at night and even the auction took place at night just want everyone to experience the garden lighting. It was sold about half million dollars above the reserved the price.
In addition, try to think long-term manageable garden. The previous owner of my house subdivided garden into too many sections and garden was separated by steps, hedge plants and four different retaining walls. The lack of integrity made the garden extreme to be looked after. With the current garden, even with the close to 400 square meters of garden (exclude the paved area), I can see management will be much easier than before.
Hope those hints helps . |
