Houses in Sydney come in different prices, with those close to city expensive, while those far away affordable.  You can always start from some where you can afford, and move to where you want to live in future.

More importantly, no opportunities from firms like NVIDIA/AMD/Qualcomm. It would be worthwhile if working in such firms with a high housing price. Cost-effectiveness appears low.

Say if I work in Sydney with a pay 15% higher than the same type of firm in Adelaide, but the house price triples in Sydney.

It's really unreasonably strange why those tech firms surge in metropolis (same situation in AU and NZ), who ever heard anyone work in a R&D firm in New York City?

There are quite a few high tech firms in Boston, where house prices are not low at all.

In Australia, people have money but nowhere to put (invest), so property is the place to go.

In other words, people tend to expect profit without hard-work. That's the difference between Australian/New Zealand spirit and American spirit. I used to meet an American missionary, and he fully agreed with me.

Yes, in general, Australians want easy money and easy life but not hard work.

That's proved to be an unsustainable way, and the price has to be paid. That's why I believe the downfall of Australia/New Zealand inevitable.

Canada, though equally a commonwealth realm, maintains its tech/manufacturing sections, thus fares relatively better.

Generally in 2 ways of brain-drain:

Elite Australian are moving to US/UK pursuing their spiritual goals;
Paid "Skilled migrants" are surging to this country, undermining both the society and economy.

By attracting so many migrants/students/visitors in recent years, Australia has managed to avoid recession this far.

But China, the biggest client is falling. See how the mining industry collapsed, which made a number of people move to NZ.

They avoided a "recession", in the form of bubble.

From July 1, 2016, primary school students from China can come to Australia to study along with their caretakers (parents), who are allowed to buy local properties and live. Therefore, more international students will arrive here.

How many is willing to come to Australia? Chinese prefer US and Canada, only the ones not qualified for those countries come to Australia

My 5 cents,bite the bullet and try US and Canada, you will regret coming to Australia. Australia is ok to live but not that different to NZ (even suggested by yourself), why do you want to sacrifice so much for such insignificant gain? Might as well make your sacrifice worthwhile and aim higher.

In comparison to US and Canada, Asians are subject to lot of racial prejudice in Australia, they are not given top positions in Business, government and other fields, and often overlooked in promotion opportunities. Just watch Australian TV, with similar proportion of Asian population to US and Canada, most of Australian commercial TV programs are purely white with much less Asian representations. TV programs in US and Canada are much much more diverse. Pauline Hanson, a racist ultra right wing politician in Australia with anti Asian views is very likely to win a seat in the Senate in the coming election.

For your children's sake, goto US and Canada or they will have to be forced to migrate for the second time when grown up. I know many ABCs here having to leave Australia to goto Canada, US, HK and Singapore to live the life they want.

你砌砖的吗？在户外晒太阳吗？不是的话，跟天气有什么影响呢？哪一个号称火炉的城市，因为热没人了呢？

工作多的地方房子贵，但相应工资也高。看看上海深圳就知道了。如果你是做嵌入式软件的，悉尼的机会很多。
澳洲的天气不是问题，因为一到晚上就凉快了。在墨尔本，晚上高于30度的日子很少。

移民來澳洲/紐西蘭都是看中好炒防還有補貼領

如果政府改革取消補貼，取消全民medicare 並且抬高地稅 增加遺產稅 就沒有多少中國人來了

Auckland冷到不冷冬季就是Adelaide的程度。若是對上海人來講已經非常溫暖

本来的意思是可否省了买空调的钱以及电费，此外本人也讨厌室内不通风

看你从国内哪个城市长大了, 如果是上海的夏天你能熬住, 布村的热根本小case, 还会觉得很舒服
我一同事北方来的, 就只能呆在墨尔本, 就算悉尼他都觉得潮热, 布村按他话说就快死过去了

我后来考察了下包括与这里网友交流，感觉到澳洲似乎意义也不大，因为看到公司性质基本上跟我现在的公司都是同类型，若只为找各小地方房子便宜点而搬迁似乎也有点下贱，况我Auckland本身也有房并非无处住，澳洲对我来讲跟NZ基本半斤八两。要追求NVIDIA那类工作机会的话还是只有去US，老实讲澳纽这两国不光专业上，全民的价值观(让低智商劳工拿高工资让高智商的pay高税养不干活的，全体tax payer供养不干活的免费医疗，还有那万恶的失业补贴，外加鼓励炒房投机)跟我非常不一致，还是美国比较精神上共通，偶然此论坛上一位成功移民US的老兄给予的鼓励，让我还是放弃这个无聊的计画而追求真正的人生挑战

北方的确实冷,热不耐, 一年4-5个月的24小时供暖惯坏了, 最关键的是不耐"湿"
