My grandfather was a young man when he left his home in Japan and went to see the world.
He wore European clothes for the first time and began his journey on a steamship. The Pacific Ocean astonished him.
For three weeks he did not see land. When land finally appeared it was the new world.

I was not a young lady when I left my home in China and when to see the world.
I wore my clean and comfortable clothes and began my journey by plane.
When the flight landed on Sydney Airport after ten hours,  I was a little bit nervous.  
People here spoke English but I can't understand.
Everything here to me is new.

How time flies.since Flamingo set foot on this alien land,three years passed.She is such a smart lady.She not only learned the language but found a job.She is no more nervous but confident.Life here is full of joy and carefree.
And here she is our moderater,she extends her hands to welcome all the new comer warmly,and eager to share her experience and help.

He explored North America by train and riverboat, and often walked for days on end.
Deserts with rocks like enormous sculptures amazed him.
The endless farm field reminded him of the ocean he had crossed.
Huge cities of factories and tall buildings dewilded and yet excited him.
He marvelved at towering mountains and rivers as clear as sky.

He met many people along the way. He shook hands with black men and white men, with yellow men and red men.
The more he travelled, the more he longed to see new places, and never thought of returning home.
Of all the places he visited, he liked California best.
He loved strong sunlight there, the Sierra Mountains, the lonely seacoast.

I explored Australia by train and plane, by bus and car.
surrounded by the Indian and Pacific oceans made it more special.
Along the coast, deserts and hills, sand and stones, beaches with rocks, these all amazed me.

I met many people here. I smiled at them and shook hands with them.
The more I travelled, the more I liked here.
Frankly, the most of the beaches I have visited had the similar landscape.
But I loved the color of sea and sky.

He remembered the mountains and rivers of his home.

这故事的段落分的太长了，俺对其中的人物开始有点晕了。请版主指点迷津。

I didn't forget the mountains and rivers of my home.
But I seldom thought about my own childhood, as it was no time to do so. Life here was busy.

最近读了一本小故事书，原文我陆续抄写到这里，原文按顺序编上了号，其它的，就是我自己瞎发感慨了。借机会练习一下，主要是模仿。

哦了。
看到grandpa有了daughtor，接着联想到这daughtor是否后来又跑去了中国，然后就有了一个不太老也不太年青的lady，又跑到了澳洲。
在俺的瞎想象中，剧情越弄的越复杂了。
经版主这么说明，知道了，He就是he，I就是i。不敢再胡想了。

Finally, when his daughter was nearly grown, he could wait no more. He took his family and returned to his homeland.
Once again he saw the mountains and rivers of his childhood. They were just as he had remembered them.
Once again he exchanged his stories and laughed with his old friends.

In fact, I didn't mention my life in Australia to my old friends. We talked about someone we all known and something we went together.

But the village was not a place for a daughter from San Francisco. So my grandfather bought a house in a large city nearby.
There, the young woman fell in love, married, and sometime later I was born.
When I was a small boy, my favourite weekend was a visit to my grandfather's house. He told me many stories about California.

He raised warblers and silvereyes, but he could not forget the mountains and rivers of California. So he planned a trip.
But a war began. Bombs fell from the sky and scattered our lives like leaves in a storm.

When the war ended, there was nothing left of the city and of the house where my grandparents had lived.
So they returned to the village where they had been children. But my grandfather never kept another songbird.

The last time I saw him, my grandfather said that he longer to see California one more time. He never did.

生命还真就是如此脆弱。只是不知道那些飞机有否从California飞过来的。

And when I was nearly grown, I left home and went to see California. After a time, I came to love the land my grandfather had loved, and I stayed on and on until I had a daughter of my own.

But I also miss the mountains and rivers of my childhood. I miss my old friends. So I return now and then, when I can not still longing in my heart.

The funny thing is the moment I am in one country, I am homesick for the other. I think I know my grandfather now.
I miss him very much.

世界上也没有无缘无故的被触动吧。
俺也稍被触动，仅因为最后一句：
the moment I am in one country, I am homesick for the other.
所谓故土呀，主人公的在两面呆的时间更长，更感其中滋味。
