Sydney Boy High? Really? Can you elaborate more such as what procedure you went through and what k ...
This year's application has passed and there is no way you can apply through the normal process.
Applying to selective schools at this stage is to send the schools an email indicating your interest to the schools attaching his school reports and CV, etc.
Overall, this informal process benefits oversea students if they are proficient in a particular sport or music instrument, and they received stunning results in their school (best if the school is reputable - by all means they accepted students from that oversea school before, this is one of the reasons we both got accepted). Speaking fluently during the interview is also compulsory, as most selective schools require students to study extension 1 english during year 11 (no ESL to choose at all - advanced english is minimum).
NBHS = SBHS = other selective schools - it depends on their available vacancies.
Apply right now (before this Friday) or apply in mid-January if he is absolutely keen in enrolling to a selective school.
For your information, we both applied in year 8.
Hope this helps.
Finally if he is not a PR or citizen, I recommend him to study in private schools like Reddam House, Knox Grammar or Kings in Sydney. Sydney Grammar is the best choice, however it is extremely hard as they require applicants to do an english exam which is ridiculously hard for an oversea student, and they do not accept students with the informal process - too prestigious.
