This only applied to China
In Australia, I have never seen a doctor does NOT want his children to be in medical school. I chated with one intern the other day about how many med students were from doctor's family. She told me about 50-60% or more in her year.
When you are practise in this profession, you will realize how easy for you to pursue further training if one or both of your parents are doctors. I worked with one resident whose father is a senior vascular surgeon. All supervised consultants, some of whom were his father's junior staffs before, gave him really good compliments and supports (BTW, he is really good as well), and he chose to apply and get in cardiothorcic training!!! |
