你夫妻两个签合同都不看一下细则的吗？我没认真研究过（楼上很多高人已经给你分析过了），但是这个两年期结束车子不是你的我还是知道的，而且以前有同学算过账，这个得每年跑不知道多少万公里的，才合算。。。

Lots of misleading information. Not just to comfort LZ, you would normally save under a novated lease, just more or less.

If you pay all above without novated lease, how much you would have to spend? $19,200?

$19,200 / (1-34%) = $29,091. Not to mention the average Oursteps income.

Yes, you think the logic is simple. Compare buying a second hand car outright, against noavted lease a second hand car. You will see the difference.

Just hope we wont sacrifice too much money for this mistake. That is our first car, we had no idea about all the financial aspect of it.
Any way, we have learned the lesson and gotta be careful when we decide to purchase the next one.

Your calculation is so accurate! I had a look on the quote, the residual value is 7317.56!

I've discussed this opinion in my post before. It is a unfair comments.

No point to compare better car with low value car, or compare what is the saving can be for high/low income earner.

You should compare if you anyway need a car, given a certain salary level, whether it is worthy of a novation.

1. 每个月的repayment不是全pre-tax的， 有超过50%是post-tax contribution。

1. No, roughly only $220 from post tax, and rest $600 should be from pre tax. Not 50/50% as you said.

2. Agree what you said about residual value, and any exceeding of the sales over residual value is tax free income.

3. What you said is how a novated lease works, it does not give you a car for free but save the income tax you otherwise would have to pay upon the running cost.

4. As discussed before, no point compare LZ with someone earing million dollars. Simply compare if buy outright against novation.

If LZ is using post tax contribution method as you previously stated, he/she will actually get more government payments as
1. Taxable income is reduced.
2. No reportable fringe benefit.

So what you stated here is incorrect.

楼上高手simonwang来了。足迹有他专门的帖子讲这个楼主可以研究一下。非常感谢他的帮助我也做了novated lease买了Corolla代步.总的来说省了点税：）

这里有个链接可以参考下 http://www.orix.com.au/novated-leasing/calculator.html 你个人的情况。不过你既然都办好了，看一下quote 如果有Pre-tax和After tax contribution,只要不算错都是帮你把FBT抵消到0的

I ran some calculations before for some TX on Oursteps: as long as the car is not too expensive or the financier charge too high interest, the car is not kept unused, and the employee has normal salary (not under $37000), novated lease should always save you money, especially even if you might have a ZERO interest deal, still no better than novated lease.

我的理解是接近0利率0首付的,你还是要花那车的钱，并且其他方面没省下钱。所以获益为0

Notated lease 你省下的是 = Pre-tax contribution 部分的税, 减去  (你多付的租车费用+residual value-整车的钱)

It is not a mistake. Novated lease isn't so popular for no reason.

The only down side is you should try to find out how much is the interest rate they are charging you. In current market, it could be anywhere from 7% - 9%. Not too sure your job and salary but normally you would get a tax saving, GST refund, more government payment, more insurance rebate.
