Hi, Good on you!
I have worked 16 hours a day and 80hrs a week to save enough money for my parents immi. I did not work at the weekend though. My strategy is that I find a full time job at walking distance from home and walk to the second job within 7 minutes. The reason is that my girl friend who finds a job at city and travels 1.5 hrs to go to work. Even I work 16 hours, I am in fact only worked four to five hours more than her. She has to spend 3 hrs or 4 hrs on the road. I got paid for those 3 and 4 hours.
You will feel sick after working so hard after two years. The full time job has be really easy job as my second job was really challenging. I was sleepy while worked at day time. But I could do my job while I was sleepy and checking hotmail. That's the day job you need. As the second job give me opportunity to improve myself.
I knew a few colleagues who had second jobs. One is a super independent woman. She was a senior finance officer and has worked at woolie at evening for ten years. She paid her mortgage in ten years! When she achieved ten years, she cashed out her long service leave and went to Africa for one month! How cool is that!
Of course she is from Dabbo, NSW, a small town. You know, people live in the big town would not do that. Poeple from small towns or farms will do this. Another one is an auditor manager, very young intellengent girl. She had full time job and was a full time student and a evening job at Woolie too at her last year at uni. She told me that her evening job was filled the stock. She refused to be a cashier as she had enough stress from the uni and accounting firm job. She is just another ordinary local Gold Coast girl. by the way she is pretty.
Another young girl did not go to uni until this year at her 26. She at last found the subject which she really wants to study. She started to work at 4am at the post office to sort the letter and then came to work at my place for few hours in the morning then go to uni at afternoon or evening. She has quitted our company's two months ago. It is still pretty mad to get up at 3am to go to post office.
Compare to the young Chinese students, they sleep at midnight and get up at lunch time. They normally go to restaurants and drive to SunnyBank ( brisbane biggest asian suburb, 60km away) for grocery shopping. They really had hard life! They are also working hard to find food. :)
If you like the day time job, then find a part time job less stress. It uses less brain, the better. You might try your local woolie or coles, post office. They have every stable jobs. Some jobs are less stressfull. Do not worry about tax withheld, as you can get it back at your tax return. That is the best for your big item purchase...say samll diamond ring?... My financee had cashed out his ten year long service leave for my engagement ring. :)))
Another one is working as a subcontractor. Then you can get all your cash back at first 20 months. put every cent into your mortgage. Then go to HR block to do your tax return. If you do not use HR Block, you have to pay tax in November. HR block is really cheap for small business tax return. |
