hi bu and astina
i understand the reason why you guys reject the fact of the dropped h-sound phenomenon. it takes time for ppl to accept things that they havent seen before, thats that, quite normal.
however in real situation it's very common that the aussie accent drops h-sound frequently, especially in the case of colloquial form. the clip u posted here showing john himself was pronouncing H-ospital, cos that was a formal speaking. that is why u hear him pronouncing H sound. in this case i too will pronounce the H sound.
the story i knew the dropped H sound is only told by my australia lecturer, a native speaker, who told me this is one of the aussie accent features, which was perceived numerous times in my own perceptions later.
"let him go", in colloquial form "letim go"
he's in the hospital -> hes in the ospital
come here -> come ere
me and my friends drop the H sound all the time without any comprehending issues and so with other locals. hence i don really think it does not exist.
here i got two quick references for you guys to know tis bit more
1.
"From 1884–85:
The children drop their h’s without correction, and in some cases the teachers set them the example. From the Cockney and Cornish the disease has spread to the Scotch and Irish. We are in a fair way of becoming a nation without an h in our vocabulary…There are other weak points in Victorian pronunciation; but this, I think, is the worst.[25]"
8. Towards a History of the Australian Accent

2.
"Australian English lacks some innovations in Cockney since the settling of Australia, such as the use of a glottal stop in many places where a /t/ would be found, th-fronting, and h-dropping."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_English_phonology
the dropped H sound is only a fact. a fact cant b disproved by preference and/or reasoning.
Didn't I write in English? Did i deny it or did I say it exists but it's unfair to say all Aussies talk like that? Did I somehow convey this message wrong, or you only understand binary?
plus, who is bu? May I call you ia now?
"it takes time for ppl to accept things that they havent seen before, thats that, quite normal. "
Oh, so I haven't seen, or to be precise, "heard", the dropped h before? Do i know you? Do you know me? Yeah right a "native speaker" told you this. How enlightening. Apparently I lived in a shoebox for the last 12 years and all the locals I talked to are fictional.
