I hope I dont need to go through legal. Current manager is very nice.

I overheard from some people saying the company ever arranged etoll and fuel card in the last relocation. I guess I might get the same offer. Extra time..........dont know the solution yet. I will wait to see.

Thanks for the advise.

I am searching on seek now. The market is very down.....not easy. But will keep trying.

Temporary accommodation is not practical. I have big family (my parents as well) and 2 young kids. They have to go to pre-school and childcare.

The temporary accommodation is just for yourself only. No need to shift your whole family.

You may find some places from gumtree or flatmate web site to find a single room for a few months before applying for the next position.

Since you consider you will spend too much time to travel, you need look after yourself. A temporary accommodation will be a good idea for short term only.

是，你说的是直线距离，昨天早上走过一次，1小时15分。周一再试M2/M7, 据Google测算，50分钟左右，就要57公里。对我而言，时间和距离同样重要。家里两个小孩，要早起，送上学，所以尽量用最短时间计算。

我们也是上市公司，relocate从市区到北区。同事很多住西南。大部分单程4/50公里，也有人一百多公里。公司宣布没有redundency pay, 没有petrol或etoll补助

公司从city要搬到机场旁边的飘过。。。单程从40分钟变成3小时。。。

我是Google的， 不是直线距离， 是开车的距离。

当然也确实挺远的，悉尼塞车很严重。 但愿能争取到好的结果。

Your boss relies heavily on you doesn't mean anything.

My previous boss did too. But he never thought about the compensation that I deserved for the extra work I had done for him.
He even explicitly asked me to work overtime without payment the day before my last working day, and better yet, he asked me to do some personal stuff for him on my last day!

I guess he didn't have the slightest idea of "compensation".
I can't imagine how he would manage after my resignation.

One more trip through M2/M7 this morning.
The distance - 57.5km
Time cost - 55 mins
Toll cost - 10.91

I have updated my resume and ready to go anytime. But there is few jobs available in the market.....Most of them prefer Big 4 background and related industry background. Only good luck to myself.
Meanwhile, would discuss with current manager about the relocation impact on me.  To my understanding, company etoll shouldn't be an issue; company fuel card - maybe; extra time - probably change my time from 9-5 to 9:30-5:30.....

你又不是住在Newcastle公司搬到卧龙岗，都在悉尼范围内，55分钟还好了。。。我坐火车上班门到门（加上去火车站和火车站走到办公室）的时间不止1个小时。你连路都不用走。

我觉得因为这个要求被裁很难。择机跳槽更灵活。

Yeah, within 1 hr trip, I guess I wont get redundancy. But if company not cover the etoll and fuel cost, its very hard for anyone to spend $22 on etoll and $18 petrol cost for a day.

I 100% agree with you. Try to find something must be the best choice.......and survive in current company in the mean time.

That's my manager request. He requested me to do the test drive and see if the travel is "doable" or not. Of course we need to consider the extra time and the extra cost.

And he specified that I should go through the M2/M7 to see how long it takes me to travel.

I know some people has to travel 1 hr to work......that sounds not too bad. But I entered this company because it is close to home and let go one far from home which paid 10k more than this one. 2 colleagues are single, so both of them claim the travel time is ok for them as long as the extra petrol is compensated by company. As a wife, a mum of 2 young kids, I have home duty too. Boss understands my concern as he also has 2 kids and needs to spend more time on the way.

I initial point is to get redundancy but I realize it may not be the case.

Now I just see what the company can do to help me travel to the new site. My experience will probably give other people some idea when company relocation happens.

不缺钱的话，就不去。缺这份工资的话，再远也去啊。我现在单程也要30公里，堵的话，也要两个小时左右

单程1个小时左右，真的太正常不过了。我坐火车，火车上只有15公里左右要半小时，但加上等车和走到家走到公司的时间，离一小时也很近了。

Yes, I know lots of people has to spend 1 hr on the way to work.
For train, you use opal card......thats around $50 per week.
If I need to make 1 hr trip, I will need to spend $18 petrol + $22 toll fee a day.
My net pay is reducing if company doesn't compensate me.

If I travel through local road (avoid toll), I need to spend 1 hr 15 mins (another guy told me he spent 1 hr 30 mins other day). So the travel time depend on traffic.......

Hard Choice, how long you have been in the company? Possible to arrange work from home for a couple days at least, or it is too tiring that you spend so much time on roads....

I have such experience one year ago, everyday it was so rushy, boss is wingeing, but because you are permanent, he can not say anything.

Nightmare, to be frank.

Working from home couple days is my best choice. I had been with the company 4 years plus and I took 2 maternity leaves within the period. Both time I worked from home (2 mths 1st time and 6 mths 2nd time) before I completely back to office. I will discuss with my manager and see any chance I can work from home 2-3 days per week.

Update - eventually talk to manager about my issue and commitment to family and young kids.
They offer that I can travel to Moorebank site 1 day a week and the other 4 days I can work from another site, which is 15km one way driving.
I have accepted it.
