其中【At Home: A Short History of Private Life】我打算买来让女儿看看。
At Home - By Bill Bryson
At Home, a history book as well as a funny read. Even though this book hasn't been "The best book I've read in ages!" or the Sunday Telegraph's "Book of Year", I still enjoyed in a way. I really liked how he had added his own little stories in the chapters and how he made history seem funny. Some chapters were words, others were words that excited you.
The book had told you about everything you wanted needed or even didn't know about. Every single detail was included, which then makes the book sound even more boring. It just seems like pages and pages of history for adults or historians. When you read it, and actaully think about it, it's not. Sure some were just plain history, but it's not that boring in my opinion.
I wouldn't exactly call this book my best read so far in life, but it's average. For someone my age to read this, some parts are confusing and awkward. I wouldn't exactly recommend this book for a child younger than 12 years old, as i am that age and I at least managed to understand 90% of the book. I would recommend it for those OLDER than myself. A 6.9/10 is what i would rate for this book. So for those who like history and humour mixed along, At Home should be a great read for you. So this "Genuine pageturner" Daily Telegraph. |
