Dependent children are usually under 18 years of age. If a dependent child is aged 18 years or more, the applicant must also prove that the child relies wholly or substantially on the applicant for their basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter.
A child of any age who has a total or partial loss of bodily or mental functions that stops them from earning a living is considered a dependant.
A child of any age who is married, engaged to be married or in a de facto relationship is not considered a dependant. |
