我一贯的做法是

BALANCE SHEET
Borrowing cost                                   debit
MV                                                     debit
Unexpired chattel mortgage interest  debit
Chattel Mortgage Liability                  credit

如果是5年合同，borrowing cost 就按5年作amortisation。

Interest 也是要做amortisation. 但我上个公司做时，是有个软件算出每年的amortisation. 当时老板还特地告诉我，贷款文件上列的每年还款含的利息数字是按照rule 78 算出来的，这个rule 78 已经废除了，所以不能用了。

而现在这个公司也是类似的作法，只是区别在于老板坚持用 rule 78 来amortise 每年的利息费用。

我朋友说她那里根本不会把interest 放在 balance sheet 里，LIABILITY 的数字就是车子的价格。我彻底混乱了，所以想知道其他在会计事务所做的同行们是怎么处理这个账呢。

你朋友说的没错，不应该CAPITALIZE 利息。因为没有INCUR也不是LIABILTY.举个通俗的反向例子，你budget 未来10年的revenue, 难道都要accural了么？

去问银行要个amortization payment schedule 上面会清楚的写清楚，每期还款本金多少，利息多少。

剩下的，你就知道了。另外mentor很重要，遇到个衰的，你很可能wrong in the very beginning了。

profit /loss：
borrowing expense-current year                 DR
interest expense -current year                    DR

closing liability showecd on amortasation table =  Chattel Mortgage Liability - Unexpired chattel mortgage interest

这种做法是正确的。。。

但是 financial lease 就不一样了。。。 应为gst claim要分摊到每个月 /季 claim。。。所以就 要 deferred tax asset . 如果bas 是 cash base 就 更讨厌了。 。

I doubt it.

chattel mortgage 是Finance lease 一种。

IFRS 只分 OP 和 Finance lease 两种。

稍微花了点时间，rule 78还是有用，如果你不能找出对方,或者对方不提供，如何calculate interest。如果对方提供amortization schedule (principle/interest),必须用对方提供的。

一般the purpose of capitalize interest 多数是因为asset is not ready or  within condition of produce income.

而以上capitalize 利息或许为了不over interested...其实再正规点和lease start date 有关系，crossing periods 时候，搞不好得先accrue。

本人比较支持LZ的做法。
仔细阅读chattel mortgage的contract后发现Interest是一定要交的，不管ASSET的后果如何，满足会计对与LIABILITY的基本定义：
past event, future economic benefit out come, and it is measurable.

虽然我们firm不这么做。
