Are you sure it's accounting assistant, not accountant assistant or accounts assistant?
anyway, accounts assistant do things like data entry, administration, AP, AR, maybe also reconciliation and payroll as well.
Assistant accountant do stuff like AR, reconciliation, tax, accrual/reversing journals, etc
