See you again, Cambridge
Quietly, I am leaving
The way I came
Tip toe.
Wave to the west
I'll let my goodbye stay
As a cloud in the colourful sky
Golden willows at the riverbank
Are young brides in the sunset
Their reflections shine through the waves
Rippling in my heart
A river full of pennywort, yellow n green
Undulating brightly beneath Cam's bridge
Where my willing heart
Would rather stay as
A swaying leaf
A shady pond under the elms
Like scattered paint
Holding a rainbow's dream
Instead of a spring
To follow the dream?
Come! Punting upstream
Till you find greeness become greener
Fill your boat with starlight
And sing freely intoxicated by its splendour
Yet I shall sing soundlessly
On departing, silence is the melody
Even summer insects stay down for me
Cambridge is silent, tonight
Quietly, I am leaving
The way I came
Tip toe
Swing my sleeves gently
I'll let every single piece of cloud stay
In this beautiful twilight |
