Pros: locked good and simple
Cons: that's all it had going for it because you can't sew with it
Overall: crap - it doesn't sew for more than 50mm before it brakes the cotton , speed and settings make no difference as the bobbin moves and some how takes out the lot , I have tried every thing i can and it still causes frustration and the erg to though it across the room . so if you just wanted to sew the odd hem you would be better doing it by hand . I thought brother was a good brand . this one is going to the tip i tried to use it 6 times from brand new .wouldn't recommend it . very disapionted with brother i didn't now they made CRAP .

Pros: Cheap
Cons: VERY noisy, can't sew slowly, cotton breaks if you try to sew quickly, instructions book really annoying as it is in lots of languages.
Overall: Terrible, if you were to try and learn on this you would give up. It is necessary to re thread the cotton all the time as it breaks. You have to put your foot down hard to get the machine to go, then it takes off.

Pros: A good machine to learn on.
Cons: Very basic, once I learnt how to sew I needed a better machine.
Overall: It is ok for beginners but you're better off going for a more complicated one and learning to use that, then you don't have to upgrade in 12 months or so.
