Dr Scotty Yang received his PhD from the Department of Entomology at National Taiwan University (NTU). His numerous professional publications during the graduate program are mainly based on population biology and management of the invasive fire ants. During the last 2 years of his PhD program (2009~2010), he received a fellowship from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan, to work on the population genetics of the invasive fire ants at the Center for Medical, Agricultural and Veterinary Entomology (CMAVE), ARS, United States Department of Agriculture. After 1-year postdoc training at the Academia Sinica, Taiwan (2010-2011), he joined the Master Program for Plant Medicine, NTU (2011-2015) as an assistant professor, where he initiated the ‘‘Lab of Invasive Pest and Social Insects’’ and focused on genetics, reproductive biology, applied ecology and development of novel management strategies for several invasive ants. He will leave NTU, and join Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere (RISH), Kyoto University on April 2016 as a lecturer and will continue to work on invasive ants through multidisciplinary approaches.
