Tree 4 Acer palmatum - Japanese Maple, this young neighbouring specimen was found in good health & vigour at time of assessment.
• Trees viability to development; this specimen is impacted by the proposed development. The project arborist is to certify that installation of protection measures have been installed as per D/A conditions prior to commencement and works are to be monitored throughout the project at approx. 3 mthly intervals depending on the length of the development.
• Development Impacts: AS4970 (2009) section 3 requires a Tree Protection Zone (TPZ) setback of 4.2 metres (m) from centre of trunk (COT), the setback for the proposed retaining wall adjacent to this specimen is estimated at 0.7m from COT, which is an encroachment by the proposed development.
The demolition of the existing driveway will be a major impact to this specimen with the indicted retaining wall and batter slope 0.7m from the centre of tree, which is an encroachment into the structural root zone of the specimen. To minimise the impact on its structural stability the wall is to be installed back in line with the building footprint reducing the encroachment.
