Ron Bennetts, 2007 - <The Australian Stockmarket, 8th edition>, ABC Books
You will know how all the basic stuff work in the aussie markets in this book.  It's one of the thorough books I've read regarding oz share market. But of course it won't turn you into a trading master straight after reading the book, but you will know a lot fundamentals many others don't know, for sure.
Like LaoYao said, the posts listed above include a lotta valuable information, techniques and experience contributed by many smart and seasoned oursteps / austeps members. I believe the posts will sharpen your learning curve substantially.  Good luck.
