To celebrate our 100th birthday, The Lost Dogs’ Home is proud to present Gracie Street PetFest 2013.

A FREE fun day out for animal lovers and the whole family, Gracie Street in North Melbourne will transform into a closed-street community festival of entertainment, food vendors, pet product stalls and activities.

The event will raise awareness of The Lost Dogs’ Home’s animal welfare programs and services, and promote responsible pet ownership, all within a family and pet-centric atmosphere.

Visitors will be able to tour the Home’s facilities including the new Frank Samways Veterinary Clinic and the Thelma Hoult Training and Education Centre.

Entertainment

A fun day out for animal lovers and the whole family, a range of entertainment will be on offer including fun children’s activities, a pet talent show, dog obedience demonstrations, pet photography,  a pet cafe and cooking show and much more!

Children’s entertainment

Children and the young at heart will love the face painting, balloon animals, magic tricks, caricatures and temporary tattoos

Pet-orientated entertainment

If you have brought your dog along, visit the Blue Wheelers hydrobaths for a dog wash, located at the rear of the Frank Samways Veterinary Clinic.

Learn some new tricks and watch the amazing Planet K9 dog agility and obedience demonstrations at 11.30am – Small Paws Playgroup, 12.30pm, 1:30pm & 2:30pm  – Allstars Team performance

Does your pet love striking a pose? Professional pet photographer Cas Beaty will be capturing pet portraits.

Hungry? Your dog will love a mudshake, hot dog, pupcake or pupperoni pizza at the Diamond Dog Pet Café, located on the front lawn of the Home. The Diamond Dog team will also be staging a pet treat cooking show on the main stage at 2:15pm.

We know Australia’s dogs have talent, and this is your opportunity for you and your pet to put on a show! The Pet Talent Show kicks off on the main stage at 1:00pm. Three catagories and great prizes up for grabs – Smarty Pants (best trick), Carbon Copy (owner/pet “look-a-like”) and Fashionista (most creative costume). Registrations will be taken on the day from 11:00am to 12:30pm.

Animal welfare

Bring your pet along  to be microchipped for the special event day price of only $12. Bookings are essential. National Pet Register will also be giving away free Pet ID tags.

Go for walkies down memory lane and visit our centenary historical exhibit located in the Thelma Hoult Training & Education Centre.

Frank Samways Veterinary Clinic

Go behind the scenes of our new state-of-the-art, purpose built veterinary clinic -  tours will be conducted every 15 minutes by staff, please register at the vet clinic reception.
