Tax return time again now!!

Wanted to ask how to avoid tax and get the maximum return back. Very easy tax, only one full time job each for me and my husband plus a bit of bank interest, and a kid.

Tried to use e-tax, end up need to pay tax office back (not including FTB as it didn't showed in the estimate). Any idea to claim $$ back?

Thought of claiming work related expenses. But not really has anything truely related. Just claimed less than $300 so don't have to provide receipt.

Any suggestions?
