这iphone5刚刚发布,还没有上市呢,就已经快惹了官司了。。。这次iphone5发布和谣传一模一样啊,就连如果是LTE就会遭到三星的起诉都预测的一样一样的。。。
Just as they had promised, Samsung are reportedly already gearing up to get all in Apple’s face. Samsung have previously stated that if Apple were to bring out an iPhone with 4G LTE capabilities, they would retaliate by launching a court-case against the Cupertino company.
After Apple won the case against Samsung in the US, Sammy were not happy. Samsung were ordered to pay Apple $1.049 billion in damages, which is not a small number by any means.
Lo and behold, as soon as Apple announced the new iPhone early this morning, Samsung have reportedly begun filing the papers to get this case going. Samsung owns 10% of all patents pertaining to LTE technologies, which would surely give them a good case.
According to IGN, it appears as though HTC will also be joining Samsung in the battle. It won’t be a joint court-case, but will surely put extra pressure on Apple to back off.
So, what will come of all of this? Well, as LTE technologies are said to be a standard and therefore bound by FRAND (fair, reasonable and non discriminatory) patenting, there might be limited ends. However, Samsung and HTC could force Apple to pay high licensing fees for having LTE radios in their devices. Or, there could be some sort of cross-licensing deal that could see an end to all these patent issues.
