IT MUST be one of Melbourne's best-kept secrets. Albert Park Lake is full of fish, some of them monsters weighing 10 kilograms.The lake was stocked with tens of thousands of golden perch - also called yellowbelly - a decade ago, in the hope of creating a recreational fishery. But the plan stalled and the fish have been left to grow old and fat. Recently, the idea has gained renewed momentum through the work of local fishing enthusiasts, determined that the dream of long afternoons at the lake does not become a tale of the one that got away.
