最近有一则报道说的私人基金向维多利亚州的公立教育系统捐款的事情。
编译出来给大家看。
题目是【From Little Things, Big Things Grow: The Creeping Privatisation of Public Education】,文章是Save Our Schools的负责人Trevor Cobbed写的。

NEW FOUNDATION TO LINK SCHOOLS AND BUSINESS – PIKEFrom the Minister for Education
Tuesday, 28 September 2010
The Brumby Labor Government has provided $1 million to establish a new foundation that makes it easier for businesses to support public education projects.
Education Minister Bronwyn Pike yesterday launched the Business Working with Education Foundation with its inaugural chairman, KPMG chairman Michael Andrew, and said the foundation would encourage businesses to get involved with school communities.
“The Business Working with Education Foundation will make it easier for businesses to support and make donations to Victorian Government schools,” Ms Pike said.
“In the past, donating to Government schools and supporting building projects was difficult for businesses because of the taxation complexities.
“The business community told us it needed a simpler, more coordinated system that would allow it to support our schools and fund extra-curricular programs that focus on key areas such as leadership, mentoring, scholarships and transition.
“The Business Working with Education Foundation is a registered charitable company and will facilitate donations and build positive partnerships between businesses and schools – which provide more philanthropic support for public education in Victoria.
“This sends a clear message that we endorse and encourage constructive partnerships between business and Victorian Government schools, and ensures business support for schools will meet community expectations.
“We have strict guidelines governing the types of business our schools can develop partnerships with – and companies take this social responsibility very seriously.”
Ms Pike said the Brumby Labor Government had committed up to $2 million to match business and other philanthropic donations to Victorian Government schools.
“Education is not only about schools, teachers and students,” Ms Pike said. “To provide every child with the opportunity to get the best education, it’s crucial we look beyond the school gate and engage the broader community,” she said.
“The business community wants to work with our public schools and build positive, long-lasting relationships – and the Business Working with Education Foundation will help facilitate this.
“A great example of business working with schools is happening in Doveton, where the Colman Foundation, run by businessman and philanthropist Julius Colman, has made a major donation to the building of a new P-9 school.”
Ms Pike said to maximise the benefits of school-business partnerships the Brumby Labor Government had developed a Statement of Priorities for Partnerships between Business and Victorian Government Schools.
