If you want to keep the house, you choose to pay extra daily care fee. The maximum extra fee at the moment is $36.74.
Centrelink is the organization to determine how much you have to pay for your aged care. Also you need to report to centrelink after you move into aged care to have your asset evaluated. (There has some complex issues about asset sevalution. For example: If the house is owned by more than one people. )
Standard: Every aged care facility must have accreditation. The health industry will send agency to every aged care facility to have on-site audit maximum every three years. There has four standards including 44 outcomes. You can check the facility accreditationreport through internet.
Care: The most import thing you have to go to have a look. And ask residents opinion.
The nurses will be on-site for 24 hours and PCA (personal care assistant ) also.
Of course, these are all depend on you are in high care or low care. You need to have ACCR form (aged care assessment form) from community. Therefore, there are some work need to be done before you can go to aged care.
Living: For most of people, it might be the last choice to go to an aged care facility. Of course, you cannot expect better than your own home. We need to prepare emotionally if you need to send your loved ones to aged care or even yourself. There is not the hell nor heaven.
For our Chinese people, language is always a problem. If you need to live with people who can only speak English. Nothing is perfect. Basiclly, you do not have to worry about fee, food, care in this country compare to China. You might need to pay medication fee. This is centrelink issue.
Hope it does help. :) |
