GST and Income Tax are different types of tax.
For GST purposes, you need to remit all the GST that you have collected from your sales to the ATO. At the same time, you can claim any GST that you have paid to your supplies from the ATO. All these numbers are reported in a form called Business Activity Statement (BAS). If you have collected more than what you have paid in terms of GST, you pay the balance to the ATO. If less, you get the balance back from the ATO.
For Income Tax purposes, you use GST exclusive numbers to calculate your Taxable Income and assess your tax position accordingly.
