Please find attached Newsletter providing you with a summary of information relating to the Amendments to the Residential Tenancies Act which will come into effect on 29 March 2021.
These changes to the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) will require all residential rental properties to undergo the following safety checks:
• Smoke Alarm Safety checks every year
• Gas Safety check of all gas installations and fittings every 2 years by a licensed gasfitter.
• Electrical Safety check of all electrical installations, fittings and appliances every 2 years by a licensed electrician.
To make sure your property will comply with the mandatory regulations and the new RTA legislation amendments, we have engaged Victoria’s leading compliance company - Smarthouse Australia- to carry out the relevant safety checks on your behalf.
We have also attached the Smarthouse Authority Form for your information detailing the services required and the costs involved.
Please provide our office with your instructions by choosing either ‘YES’ or ‘NO’ for each service and signing where required.
Once completed, please return the Smarthouse Authority to our office by no later than 15th March 2021.
