Goldman Sachs analyst Ashwini Chandra said on Thursday that underlying momentum is weak as he downgraded his recommendation to neutral, sliced the 12-month price target from $7.90 to $6.30, and cut earnings forecasts by 28 per cent for FY20. A third-quarter decline in retail sales "may indicate its usage rates are maturing faster than we previously forecast," he said.
Risks for investors include higher than assumed credit defaults, entry to the US market taking longer that expected, and the product becoming subject to credit rules and regulations that could impact its effectiveness, Mr Chandra added.
Yet the stock still has plenty of supporters in the market. On Thursday, Bell Potter analyst Lafitani Sotiriou lifted his price target to $10.00 per share, maintained a buy recommendation and increased earnings forecasts by up to 5 per cent over the forward period, saying "we anticipate robust multi-year growth to eventuate". |
