- A brief summary of the story or the content.
I would like to share with you the series Narnia. This series contains seven books.
The main character varies in the stories, each has a different one. This series is mainly about another world named Narnia which humans are summoned to if the land is in need.
However today I will only be talking about the first book of the series: The Magician’s Nephew.
In this book two humans Diggory and Polly are exploring a certain passage partly inside Polly’s house. When they come across a Magician’s room, Polly, who the Magician offers a yellow ring to, is immediately transported into a mysterious wood. Then Diggory, using another yellow ring and a green “homeward” ring goes after her.
In the wood Diggory discovers that the pools in the wood are really entrances to different worlds and when the correct ring is applied they will travel into the world they want to get in. They discover the world of Narnia, accidently bringing with them an evil witch from another dying world. Diggory and his companions watch as Narnia is being created. The children are given a task by Aslan who is the creator of all the worlds. The task is to pluck an apple from a tree in a certain garden that will repel evil. How do these puny children manage to pass the evil witch to get the apple ? I will leave this to you to read.
At the end, Aslan also allows Diggory to take an apple back to his world which he gives to his fatally ill mother. As this apple is magical it immediately heals her and Diggory plants the seed in the backyard. When the tree is blown down at last, Diggory makes a wardrobe out of the apple tree that is a doorway into Narnia as shown in the next sequel: The Lion, The Witch and the wardrobe.
- Does the book engage your emotions, making you laugh or cry or think about it for days?
The books are so good that I always have a desire to continue reading.
- Do you like the book? Why?
- Rate the book from 1 to 5 stars.
I like this book. However there are some parts that is less interesting. These parts are mostly found in beginnings which I believe slow and boring. Other than that I feel that this book is flawless. Overall I would rate this book a 9.5/10.
