Gippsland Lakes Fishing Report - April 5
Lakes Entrance: The Channels around Fraser Island are producing good size Salmon, Trevally, Flathead and Spanish Mackerel, on pilchard and prawn. Bream and Luderick are active around the Footbridge.
Lake Tyers: Bream to 40cm have been caught in Blackfellows Arm on peeled prawn. A few Flathead and Tailor have also been landed on soft plastics and metal lures. While you're in Lake Tyers Beach, drop into the Tavern for a cold beer, a morning coffee or wine and dine in the evenings with friends and family.
Mitchell River: The “Cut” on the Mitchell River is the best spot for Bream, using peeled prawn and shrimp.
Tambo River: Bream have been taken around the “Lucerne Paddock” , on prawn and sandworm.
Nicholson: The boat ramp area is good for Bream using prawn and soft plastics.
Metung: The jetties on Bancroft Bay and Shaving Point have Bream biting on sandworm and prawn.
Paynesville: Tailor are taking trolled lures. Plenty of “Gars” are being caught in the strait and Wattle Point Jetty, using sandworm. Ocean Grange is good for Gummies.
Hollands Landing: Flathead are taking soft plastics, but many are undersize. Some large bream have been landed off the jetty near Medusa Point, using prawn.
Marlo: Estuary Perch, bream, Mullet and Luderick are “on the go” in the Snowy River, on sandworm, prawn and crab pieces. The surf is producing Salmon and Tailor on silver lures.
Tamboon Inlet: Bream, Flathead, “Gars”, Luderick, Tailor and Mullet can be had around the “Camp Site”, using crab, shrimp prawn and sandworm.
Bemm River: Good size Bream and Flathead have been taken off the jetties and around the edges of the Lake. Peeled prawn and sandworm are best bait. Plenty of Salmon are biting off the beach on pilchard and poppers.
Mallacoota: Harrisons Channel is still the spot for Bream on yabbies. Luderick are around the fishing platforms on the Bottom Lake. The “odd” Mulloway has been landed in “The Narrows” on fish fillets. Gipsy Point has schools of Bream waiting to be caught.
