The benefits of having both the CPA and CA memberships are in my opinion are as follows
- CPA CPD training courses are diverse and relatively cheap
- CPA library has better online resources than the CA equivalent
- CA knowledge centre has more variety of books than the CPA knowledge centre. You may find this useful if you need to borrow certain articles / books for assignments or self paced training
- CPA can become members of CIMA provided that person has the relevant work experience
- CA can become members of GAA without taking on further exams
- CPA can become members of GAA by taking on additional exam (e.g. 1 for HKICPA, but it really depends on when you first admit as an associate member)
- There are more CPA members & offices worldwide (especially in Asia) where its market presence is well penetrate into those markets
- Some public practice partners have both CPA & CA memberships. If they don't find CA / CPA membership beneficial, they should have drop either one long time ago.
