Like many others, I am presently looking for job, and I am trying to make it as a learning curve in particular the ENGLISH. Sometimes I like to copy some good pieces from the book, as follows.
Sometimes we just need a job. Any job - paid, volunteer, traineeship.
We learn something useful in every single job we do. We learn about different workplaces, different styles of management, different ways of doing things. We lear to manage and respond to change. We make friends. We extend our networks. We gain confidence. We meet people who are willing to help us, who believe in us. Even when we have a bad experience in a workplace, this strengthens us. It makes us wise and compassionate.
Learning new skills means being prepared to be a beginner. We may have doubts. We may resent feeling like that. We may even feel cranky. 'Why me? Why now? What's te point?' Of course, if we ever learn the answers to those questions, it won't be till we've gone the distance.
On the other hand, we might see learning new skills as one huge adventure, all part of the rich fabric of life, in which we know the general direction we are heading but we've got no idea what's around the corner. That's exciting! |
