大家生活工作在澳洲，是不是觉得自己的英语还是不给力，文化上也是差异多多，有时候工作闲聊更是发现老外说的一些餐馆，地方，节目，人物等等话题一无所知，感觉自己很脱节。在这里分享给大家一些我从工作中交流所收集的好的, 新奇的, 热门的英语和生活信息，大家喜欢的话就多多加分~~~
我会陆续更新的，大多数的是我听到老外讲不懂问他们意思或者自己google来的，如果大家有什么补充那就更好了

英语收集
I am knackered = very tired
(NB: from George Orwell’s “Animal Farm”, the knackery yard was the place that old horses were sent to be killed when they were past their usefulness. So to be knackered means to be worn out, tired, past it etc.)
Up to speed on sth = having the most recent information and able to do things well
e.g.Please bring me up to speed on this matter. I'll feel better about it when I get up to speed on what's going on.
有时候我们经常想说没过多久我就上手了工作，可以说 I get up to speed quickly
Muffin top = 小肚子
I have muffin top now, need more exercise to get rid of it
Street smart = A person who has alot of common sense and knows what's going on in the world；being prudent and wise in life
怎么解释这个呢，有些人学习很好，可以说academic smart, 那相应的生活上很聪明就是street smart,好像老外更欣赏street smart的人，因为他们觉得academic smart的人比较nerd
Bloody = damn, very
这个单词是slang，经常被用，至少我老板每天说上个几次，文件太大打开慢了就说bloody file, 天气太冷了就bloody cold, 也可用在好的地方bloody good idea，我感觉意思更加接近中国的很
Have a good one
其实这个很平平无奇，但是我听了2次才知道具体指什么，one替代了任何你想说的have a good night, have a good weekend等等. 每天下班的时候大家打招呼走的时候就来上一句，也不用想后面到底跟什么，还显得比较与众不同
Ping me = send an email, give a call, etc.
Bud = baby
e.g.Is this your first bud? 在澳洲用bud代替baby挺普遍的，sign, 学英语本来就辛苦，老外还老喜欢变来变去

澳洲文化：Fair Dinkum & Salute the Man, not the Rank
Wedding Tradition: something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a silver sixpence in her shoe.
结婚是一个很大的话题，之前同事很好奇中国的婚礼，我解释了一番，她也告诉我西方的传统就是以上4 sth了，Each item represents a good-luck token for the bride. If she carries all of them on her wedding day, her marriage will be happy. "Something old" symbolizes continuity with the bride's family and the past. "Something new" means optimism and hope for the bride's new life ahead. "Something borrowed" is usually an item from a happily married friend or family member, whose good fortune in marriage is supposed to carry over to the new bride. The borrowed item also reminds the bride that she can depend on her friends and family.
啤酒品牌James Squire
老外对于bar和beer的热爱大家都知道，有时候他们说起哪些好喝或到酒吧里面点，我经常很迷茫，至少不是我熟悉的那些品牌。今天一起吃饭的时候，大家一致对这个牌子赞不绝口，虽然有点贵。好像king street上面还有他的Brewhouse, 如果在Mel的话，可以去Melbourne pub James Squire Hotel，据说超棒的

据说这家是悉尼最好的restaurant, 预定要3个月以上哦，同事结婚纪念日特别去的哦，回来分享的时候发现在老外当中知名度极高。不过估计是很贵的，大家了解就好，去就算了
The Smurfs, Astro Boy
有一次跟一个年龄相仿的同事聊小时候看过的动画片，他说到smurf，astro boy我很晕，回来一查，原来是蓝精灵和铁臂阿童木，还有白马王子叫什么，不叫Prince White Horse, 叫Prince Charming。这就是文化上的差异，很多时候其实你都知道，但是就是不知道英语对应的是什么 |
