1, Process Safety Manager
Delivering on process safety expectations is a critical success factor for the company and
in response this role has been set up to ensure that process safety is given the highest priority.
The Process Safety Manager will play a key role in establishing and maintaining process safety
expertise for the site, in setting up process safety management systems, in the implementation
and assurance of standards as well as in coordinating technical advice and input to the Site.
Duties
The Manager Process Safety will:
• Provide the leadership and technical competence to drive process safety management
focus, principles and practices within the sites.
• Embed global process safety related policies, standards, organisational guidance and
tactics into the two sites.
• Network with the Process Safety team in DSM and Process Safety Assurance organisation
in the company’s Global Solutions team to share/implement good process safety practices.
• Connect sites into the East Process Safety Network.
• Work with the leadership team to implement recommendations affecting process safety management
systems that include HEMP, Process Safety Reviews, Process Hazard Analysis and
Learning From Incident (LFI).
• Provide expertise and technical assurance on HEMP and contributes the same to other
process safety critical processes.
• Provide process safety assurance to sites by setting up adequate monitoring,
health check and audit systems.
• Develop, populate and maintain process safety performance metrics and KPIs.
• Identify gaps in process safety robustness and drive process safety improvement
programmes through BIP tactics.
• Ensure consistent development and maintenance of process safety critical documentation
such as safeguarding memoranda, area classification documentation, plot plans, etc.
• Maintain skills to support and facilitate HEMP/LOPA processes.

Dimension
a) Provision of technical support and
assurance across the whole of the sites.

c) Contributor to Process Safety networks.
Key challenges are to make process safety more visible at sites, to raise the level
of capability in the organisation to identify, analyse and address process safety risks, to
implement standardised processes and provide assurance for these. Having material impact to
help the site lower the number of process safety incidents and to reduce the potential for such
incidents is paramount.
Challenge:
Chemical engineer or similar background. Prior manufacturing experience (minimum 5 years)
is strongly desired as is broad knowledge of refinery processes. Expert knowledge of and
experience in the application of (technical) process safety standards and systems is needed.
