From the company that let you build a computer into something that looks like a mechanical spider, here’s a new PC case that puts the mollusk into modding. Lian Li has just released the PC-U6 Cowry case, which essentially lets you stuff components into an aluminum snail shell.
Despite the wacky shape, the Cowry — which appears to be an update of the earlier PC-777 case — comes with Lian Li’s usual attention to detail. You’ll need a microATX or Mini-ITX motherboard, but you can place three 3.5-inch, two 2.5-inch, and one 5.25-inch drives into the Cowry’s tool-less bays, and it can house graphics cards as long as 310mm. You also get washable air filters for the pair of 120mm side-panel fans and the front and rear-panel ventilation holes. You’re also able to squeeze a liquid-cooling system into the enclosure.
Definitely an acquired taste, the PC-U6 is going to be an even tougher sell for its price: $349, according to Hot Hardware. Then again, if Gary is your absolutely favorite character on Spongebob Squarepants, or you need a PC that matches the seashore decor of your beach house, then this could be the computer case for you. |
