conclude;Considering of entry barriers, it is not had to entry into this industry. The travel industry is at its very mature stage, the regulation imposed on the industry is pretty clear, so that new entrant may get licensed by relevant licensing authorities.
Bargain powers of suppliers-low and increasing??
-Travel suppliers such as transportation, airline, tourist attractions, and insurance;
-Numerous travel suppliers around the world are able to offer a wide range of options for the travel agencies and products/services.
-Travel agency has global purchasing power to negotiate better deals due to strong market power
- Now travel suppliers are willing to offer direct services to the tourists and drop the commission fees for the travel agencies. Quanta announced no longer to pay for commission fee for domestic and New Zealand flight and would reduce the international commission fee to 5%. This power shift will increase the bargaining powers of travel suppliers accordingly
Suppliers can 1. Cut the commission paid to agents and sell their products directly to customers.
2. Set up their own internet website. Customers can book ticket from supplier directly
