As a senior tester you will work for the release manager to ensure the scheduled release timetable runs smoothly. You will work with the development team to understand and define testing requirements, translating those requirements into practical technical test scenarios. Communication, relationship building and the ability to work as part of a distributed team is key to success in this role.

Once you are comfortable with the release environment your role will grow to include the release manager role.

Your tasks and responsibilities will be to:

    * Work with the release owner to ensure consistent and timely system releases
    * Coordinate test environments, test data preparation and setup
    * Plan and execute testing
    * Manage test issues and escalate as appropriate
    * Liaise with the business to achieve release signoff
    * Support developer in their testing efforts
    * Work with developers to continually improve testing maturity within the team

You should be able to quickly establish testing requirements, and work with the wider development team and businesses to deliver the most appropriate outcome. A structured and consistent approach to analysis and problem solving, adherence to project deadlines, testing methodology and process is essential. You must be self-motivated and want to grow your role to take on release management responsibilities.

Your background will include:

    * Expert knowledge of testing methodologies and process
    * Expert in testing Unix-based systems
    * Strong understanding of software configuration, change request management and release management processes
    * Good Unix skills
    * Knowledge of SQL queries and relationship databases
    * Experience of System Development Lifecycles
    * Understanding of n-tier architecture
    * Strong analytical and communications skills

Other desirable skills include:

    * Experience in Finance environments
    * Experience with automated server-side testing tools
