DBA - Oracle and MS SQL

The primary purpose of this position is to contribute to the success of the NSW Business Units by working as part of the team that provides hands-on business application and supporting systems support.

As part of a team this position will be responsible for general database maintenance and performance enhancement/tuning for the Oracle and MS SQL systems. This position will participate in the design, build and deployment of robust and high performance solutions.

This position will be required to assist in the delivery of other IT projects and provide ongoing service delivery for production or production related systems.  This will include upgrades, backups, disaster recovery, installations, performance monitoring, tuning and day to day incidents raised.

This position will be required to promote best practice, continual improvements and participate in strategy discussions with the NSW IT Service Delivery team.

To be successful in this role you need to display the following skills and attributes:

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
• Previous experience as an Oracle and  MS SQL DBA in a commercial environment
• Experience with Oracle 9i, Solaris, Windows and Linux
• Experience with Shell Scripting
• Experience with database maintenance, schema design and indexes
• Experience with stored procedures
• Experience with backup and recovery processes,  RMAN is desirable
• Experience with MS SQL (2000 and either 2005 or 2008)
• Experience with performance monitoring and tuning including MS SQL in Oracle databases
• Experience in data extractions
• Experience with complex databases in a 24 x 7 environment
• Strong knowledge of database design and architecture
• Strong experience with query optimisation
• Strong understanding of ITIL
• Strong understanding of development methodologies

Business Systems Support Analyst

IT Senior Systems Engineer - Wintel - NSW

The primary purpose of the Senior Systems Engineer is to ensure the efficient operation of all facets of VMware and Wintel to meet the needs of the business as defined in the Service Level Agreements.  
The Senior Systems Engineer will own the VMware and Wintel environment across all of the Transurban Datacentres including the Disaster Recovery Site.
Key purposes are:
• The efficient operation of all facets of storage including:
o Performance
o Monitoring
o Maintenance
o Incident management
o Problem Management
• To work with third parties (if appropriate) to execute any planned changes to the environment.
• This role also provides on call support for escalated 24/7 incidents.

• Experience in networked systems support, in a Microsoft Windows 2000. 2003 and 2008 Client/ Server environment (or other Microsoft operating systems), ISA 2006 and particularly IIS 5/6/7
• Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange 2007, Office Communicator 2007
• Strong knowledge of Windows 2003 / 8 server and TCP/IP networking including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS(R), Group policies
• Possesses deep technical expertise in SCCM and SCOM - good skills in deployment of SCCM required as well as SCCM and SCOM administration skills
• Strong hands on experience of automated server/workstation builds and automated server patching
• Solid Hardware knowledge (IBM, HP, Dell standalone or Blade system)
• Proven experience with scripting, Perl, VB, Powershell, Kix script etc
• Previous experience working of Net backup and backup technology
• Knowledge and Experience working at an Enterprise level environment
• Experience in support of mission critical systems
• Working technical knowledge of networking technology (switching/routing)

• Mentoring and coaching junior engineers
