Windsor

Who will run Australia? I won't be rushed, vows Windsor

Independent MP Tony Windsor may delay a decision on which side to back unless more information is forthcoming from Labor and the coalition, he says.
Katter to list demands | Wilkie lists priorities
The New England MP stated at the weekend that he was likely to have a verdict by week's end.
But he said a lack of information about the costings of Labor and the coalition's election promises could delay any decision.
"I'm not going to be rushed by any deadline," he told reporters in Canberra today.
"The whole point of last week was to put a proposal to both the government and the opposition to release some information based on some of their promises and some of the other departmental advice.
"We haven't received any of that yet."
But asked if Prime Minister Julia Gillard or Opposition Leader Tony Abbott was more cooperative, Mr Windsor was more diplomatic.
"They've both been very cooperative," he said.
Independent MP Andrew Wilkie has presented a list of demands to both leaders.
But Mr Windsor said it was unlikely he would put his name to a joint list with fellow rural independents Bob Katter and Rob Oakeshott.
"Too early to say that yet," he said.
Mr Windsor said his electorate office was still receiving negative phone calls.
"There's a lot of background noise and we've had calls into the electorate office, obviously, some for, some against ... people who've never voted for me saying they'll never vote for me again if I do such and such," he said. |
