Hi, for small start up companies, it is often easier/more suitable to adopt cash basis, therefore the income can be include in next year's return.
you don't have to hire an accountant, as long as you know how to prepare financial & tax returns yourself. with minor errors, you'll have to correct and pay any interest on the shortfall. but it is much better to get it right in the first place. a good tax record with the ATO is valuable as you don't want further audits from them down the line when the company grows.
The cost of prepaing first year return for you won't be too expensive, have you called any accountants for quotes yet? |
