The Australian Government is strengthening the requirements to become an Australian citizen. This includes:
•Increasing the general residence requirement, which means an applicant for Australian citizenship will need to demonstrate a minimum of four years permanent residence immediately prior to their application for citizenship
•Introducing an English language test, which means applicants will need to demonstrate competent English language listening, speaking, reading and writing skills before being able to sit the citizenship test
•Strengthening the Australian Values Statement to include reference to allegiance to Australia and require applicants to make an undertaking to integrate into and contribute to the Australian community
•Strengthening the test for Australian citizenship through the addition of new test questions about Australian values, and the privileges and responsibilities of Australian citizenship
•Introducing a requirement for applicants to demonstrate their integration into the Australian community
•Strengthening the Pledge of commitment as a citizen of the Commonwealth of Australia in the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 to refer to allegiance to Australia; and extending the requirement for individuals aged 16 years and over to make the Pledge to all streams of citizenship by application, including citizenship by descent, adoption and resumption.

Subject to the passage of legislation required to enact some of the measures, the changes will come into effect, and apply to applications made from the date of the Government's announcement on 20 April 2017.

The changes will not apply to applications made before 20 April 2017 (that is, the current rules will continue to apply to applications made before 20 April 2017).

Applicants will receive communication on the implementation of these measures and any additional information and documentation that may be required to support their application

Test Eligibility
To sit the test you must:

- have lodged an application for citizenship,
- be a permanent resident of Australia
- satisfy the department of your identity during the process of registering for the test, and
- allow the department to take a photograph of you, or provide one yourself.

Persons exempt from sitting the test
The following persons are not required to sit the test:
- those who lodged their citizenship application before 1 October 2007, or
- those aged under 18, or
- those aged 60 and over, or
- those who suffer from a substantial impairment or loss of hearing, speech or sight, or
- those who can provide specialist medical evidence of a permanent or enduring physical or mental incapacity which means you are not capable of:
   - understanding the nature of your application, or
   - demonstrating a basic knowledge of the English language, or
   - demonstrating an adequate knowledge of Australia and of the responsibilities and privileges of citizenship, or
- those who were born to a former Australian citizen, or
- those who were born in Papua before 16 September 1975 to an Australian citizen born in Australia as currently defined, or
persons who are stateless and were born in Australia.

电话也打不通，你上面贴的是过去的老的标准还没改，18岁以下和60岁以上不要考试。
现在前面新的是16岁以上都要考，只会严不会松。

老妈以前叫她入籍她不入，现在英语听说读写ES 6 她根本不行。

应该对移民入籍者每5年重新考试一次，一直考到65岁，以检查他们是否保持着对澳洲的忠诚、认同

不過又聽到不同版本。
都不知要不要考。
我媽2018年就有4年在澳洲。 不過不會說英文

入籍需要考试，通过语言关，这不是很正常吗？难不成就每天去145走走就完了？国歌至少得会吧，起码的新闻得会看吧，咱总理说个话得能听懂吧。这些都不行，就为了个福利非要哭着喊着入籍？

不是针对楼主，对所有的难民，老穆，都应该一样！

现在法律都还没出来，连bill都还没看到，到底最后是怎样谁都还不知道呢。前几天出来的是一个改革大方向，并没公布豁免细则。从人道主义考虑，肯定也会有exemption的，不然人家全残的也要考试？

打给移民局也没用啊，八字都还没一撇的事儿，接线员能告诉你啥。
