考雅思前一个好心的native speaker（而且就是她们国家的英文教师）一直在msn上陪我练习英语，给我纠错，还帮我认真总结了一份英语写作可能用到的非常地道的连接词，我觉得对我帮助蛮大的，贴在这里跟大家分享希望对大家有帮助哈。

Advices to organize
a speech

To clear the use of terms
proposed, I have chosen successively 4 themes : violence, pollution, individualism, the death penalty.

1) To expound the ideas in a structural way

A)
To organize the ideas in order

First theme : violence


·
First / Firstly.../ First of all.../ In the first place…/First and foremost…/ To begin
with, we
can
say
that violence is omnipresent in our world.
·
Second… / Secondly… / Then…/ Next, legal
answers to social problems are difficult to find.
·
Third
/ Thirdly…/ In the third place, violence and crime result
from the failure of society and education.

Second theme: pollution

We must take into account man’s comfort and welfare.

You can also use adverbs like: rather, fairly, quite, almost, very, extremely, somewhat, obviously, presumably, preferably, actually…

Ex: I somewhat understand that workers object to seeing polluting plants close down.
Ex: The situation is obviously getting worse nowadays.
Need we point out the alarming pace of deforestation on the planet?













3) To reinforce
your argumentation

A)
To give arguments going in the same direction to those already given

Besides…/ Moreover…/What is more…/ Furthermore, if things are left as they are the disappearance of the human species is inevitable.
·
In addition to that…/ On top of that, man may unconsciously desire his own destruction.
·
Similarly…/ Likewise, prehistoric animals died because they failed to adapt to a changing environment.

This is all the more crucial as the hole

To express comparison

Third theme: individualism

By comparison (with)…/ In comparison with what social life used to be, the word tends to become increasingly individualistic.
·
Likewise…/ similarly, the concept of “nation” is less and less operative.
·
The same applies to people’s attitude towards the ideal of fraternity.
·
You can also use the different comparative words : more than, less than, fewer…than, the same as, twice as much as…
·
Not as many people as before are willing to give a hand to someone in need as before.
·
Less than a third of the population feels concerned by the tragedy of the homeless.



D)
To express consequence


·
Consequently…/So…/ As a result…/ Therefore…/ And that is why everybody feels the centre of the world.
·
So much so that: People are getting narcissistic, so much so that they hang mirrors all around them.

E)
To give examples, to formulate ideas in detail

·
For instance…/ For example, they are so much in love with their own image that they cannot see their faults.
·
They cannot see their faults…namely…/such as…/ like their selfishness and self-centeredness.
·
That is to say that…/ What I mean is that I’m really sick of the present world…

…in that…/ insofar as…/ inasmuch as…/ since it will leave a negative image of man to the next generations.










F)
To wander from the point

By the way…/ Incidentally, individualism has always been a sign of a shift in mentalities.

To insist on a particular point

Fourth theme: the death penalty

One should bear in mind that…/ It must not be forgotten that the death penalty is a form of legal murder.

Indeed…/ Actually…/ As a matter of fact, that is the reason why it is such a complex problem.

It is worth mentioning that a referendum may reveal that a majority of French people are in favour of capital punishment.

One can hardly deny that…/ There is so denying that the abolition of the death penalty was crucial in our national history.

It is often said that…/ It is common knowledge that the abolition of the death penalty has had no effect on the crime rate.














H)
To give your opinion

Personally, I believe that…/ As far as I am concerned, I think that…/ As for me, I think that…/ In my opinion…/ My opinion is that sentencing a man to death cannot be an easy thing for the jurors.

My views on the question are moderate.

For my part, I find it hard to understand why people rape and kill children.

I cannot help thinking that a murderer is not totally sane when he commits such a horrible act.

I disapprove of releasing criminals who are likely to repeat their crimes.
·
I don’t share such views, which are too extreme and prejudiced.
·
I’m strongly opposed to a death sentence when there still remains some doubt about the defendant’s guilt.
·
I am a firm believer in the power of conscience.
·
Contrary to popular thinking…/ Contrary to usual belief, the death penalty is not a strong deterrent.

对~这叫“第一反应”吧~
学英语久了
我们对于某些表达的第一反应已经固定在一些词组短语上了，丰富一下第一反应对自己的好处会很多
