The stock closed down 13.8 per cent at $12.
Morgans analyst Belinda Moore attributed the share price fall to investors taking profit after a "great result" in a volatile market. Similar trading behaviour happened after Bellamy's rival a2 Milk delivered its interim financial results on Wednesday.
"First half margins are up by 10 basis points, so they are up significantly, which shows the scalability of this business model," Ms Moore said.
"Yes, in the second half they're talking about staying at the level and, yes, one could say, well, given you've got higher revenue growth and you've got more volume and price rises coming through that margins should be higher.
"But what they are doing is they are at the point where they are reinvesting in terms of marketing and in terms of people to really scale up the next wave of growth. It's still going to be an outstanding year for earnings growth, but in 2017 they will be even better placed."
