问几个词的意思

今天看到the age 上面的一篇文章，“Rio pleads for a rethink on China”， 好几个词语不懂。。。。真急啊。。。(monkey17) 。 哪位帮忙指教一下，先谢谢了。。

个人的理解：

1. when taken with: 当与其他的一些决定综合起来考虑的时候

2. Consolidation of the resource circle into the hands of a few: 资源界的控制权逐渐整合到少数几个中国，巴西和俄国巨头的手中

3. an open run: 公开的尝试？

4. 3.4-for-1是指BHP用自己的每3.4股股票来换Rio Tinto的一股股票，这样来达成合并

bulaohu  说的很对。另外，还是感觉 when taken with  的意思有点怪怪的。。。起码当我写东西的时候，想不到用这个词。。。。 另外，字典里面怎么查不到呢？(monkey13)

Thanks. I think it's common among these columnists that they invent words & phrases on the fly, because they do master this language.

I think "when taken with" should really be "when taken into consideration with". The author omitted part of that phrase. It happens sometimes.

"An open run" is an open assault. 就像打仗的时候要冲锋，一般都是迂回的，open run就是正面直接冲锋。

"3.4 for 1" refers to BHP's offer of using 3.4 BHP shares to buy every RIO share.

"from consolidation of the resources circle into the hands" should be broken into two parts.
1. "consolidation of the resources circle" - consolidation is to combine small ones into large ones. This part is referring the current merge and acquisition cycle.
2. "into the hands of a few Chinese" - a few Chinese means a few Chinese companies. So connect with previous part "into the hands of a few Chinese" means that a few Chinese companies are buying up Australian resource companies.
Now of course this whole thing is scaremongering only. We all know BHP and RIO are the two biggest in the world...

by the way, 刚才查了下字典，发现 有个词组：
take something (seriously....)  = consider something in a particular way
所以，上面 的 taken, 确实应该是 considered 的意思。。。
