Concession Opal cards are available to eligible NSW internal tertiary students on most transport services. If

tertiary institution for a Transport Concession foil/sticker that must be affixed to your student card.
You’re eligible for a Concession Opal Card if you:

education and training course, at a tertiary institution authorised by Transport for NSW to issue
tertiary student concessions
you are a full-time student enrolled on an internal basis (except where a person, by reason of
disability, is enrolled on a part-time basis and/or on an external basis)
For the purposes of administering the Concession Opal Card, 'a full-time student' means:
a university student who is considered to be enrolled on a full-time basis by their university
a student at any other tertiary institution other than a university who is enrolled in a course of study,
requiring at least 20 hours per week of classes, for a continuous period of at least nine weeks
Institutions registered with Transport for NSW to issue NSW Tertiary Student Concessions, should refer to
the current Guidelines for Issuing NSW Tertiary Student Concessions for information on how to issue
Concession Opal cards on behalf of Transport for NSW.
Where a tertiary institution is uncertain about an applicant's status, clarification should be sought from
Transport for NSW. Where the matter remains unclear, the issuer should submit a formal request for
clarification to Transport for NSW, along with relevant background information |
