Consequently, we are calling off our rally against unfair sackings which was to be held at Southern Cross station this Thursday (10 July). We are deeply grateful for your everyone’s support throughout our campaign! We will continue our campaign of safety for all members. I would like to thank you for publicly supporting Dervin. He was by and large was a victim of circumstances beyond his control and a victim of a very flawed internal investigation conducted by managers who can only be described as less than competent. Dervin treats everyone equally and does not tolerate abuse of any kind. It was a shock to Dervin and his fellow conductors that his actions could be deemed as anything other than commendable. You may know by now that Dervin has been offered reinstatement and redeployment by V/Line.(see rtbu fbook page) This is a great result. I truly believe that the community response by people like yourself contributed significantly to this, so thank you very much. In the near future we will be having some sort of party/event to celebrate Dervins success and I would like to invite you when details are settled. Dear Leo Thank you for your feedback regarding the dismissal of one of our conductors. V/Line respects the privacy of employees and will not disclose details of individual disciplinary matters. However, I can assure you that the process followed was fair and reasonable. The employee and his union have applied for a hearing at the Fair Work Commission which is the independent authority on such matters.
