WHEN THE BIG DAY ARRIVES: Saturday March 5 6am Clearways will take effect on both sides of the streets around the parade route. These will all have signs erected for information one week prior to the parade. Driver Avenue will be closed. 3pm Police will close Elizabeth Street, between Goulburn and Market streets, to traffic. Some Flinders Street northbound lanes will close. 4.45pm Parade route closed to traffic by police. Oxford Street will be closed at Glenmore Road for all westbound traffic, where it will be diverted in the appropriate direction. 5.30pm Street entertainment begins along the parade route, until 7.30pm. 7.45pm Parade starts at Elizabeth Street and proceeds along Liverpool, Oxford and Flinders streets, ending at Moore Park Road. Moore Park Road and Driver Avenue remain closed to allow parade vehicles to exit the route. There is no public viewing in this area. 11pm The last float will arrive at the end area. Street cleaning will begin quickly. The police will coordinate the program of re-opening streets And, hey, the really important news: portable toilets will be located at Hyde Park, Flinders Street and Taylor Street. |
