SmartBus Route 902 (formerly Routes 888/889) will start on Monday 5 April 2010. Passengers can try out the new service for free for the first two weeks – from 5 April to 18 April. Follow the link below for route and timetable information: → Route 902 - Chelsea - Airport West (SMARTBUS Service) SmartBus Route 902 is a service operating daily from early morning until midnight (9pm Sundays). It will run on average every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on evenings, weekends and public holidays and replace several less frequent routes. SmartBus Route 902 will run 76 kilometres from Chelsea to Airport West via Springvale, Glen Waverley, Nunawading, Doncaster, Eltham, Greensborough, Thomastown and Broadmeadows. The expanded service will replace the existing Route 888/889 SmartBus (Chelsea to Nunawading) as well as local routes 281 (Templestowe to Eltham portion only) and 560 (Greensborough to Broadmeadows). Route 902 is more direct than existing routes and will speed travel in the Chelsea, Edithvale, Forest Hill and Nunawading areas. Local coverage will be retained through new and extended routes, including Route 858 (Aspendale Gardens to Edithvale via Chelsea) and an extended Route 735 to Forest Hill Chase Shopping Centre and Nunawading. In addition, Route 281 will continue to serve Templestowe Village and Doncaster Shoppingtown and Deakin University. Timetables for the revised Routes 281, 735 and 858 are now available.
