Moomba 2006 2006 Moomba Parade, Monday 13 March, 11am to Midday - Free Don’t miss what is set to be a very spectacular 2006 Moomba Parade full of colour, performance and impressive floats, displays and costumes. Up to 2000 performers are taking place in this year’s Moomba Parade including local schools, cultural groups, community groups, service organisations and popular Australian identities. The Parade will welcome community performers from 50 different groups including members of Te Roopu Ataawhai with their New Zealand ‘Waka’ war canoe and members of Melbourne’s Japanese community aboard a Japanese themed float celebrating Melbourne’s Sister City relationship with Osaka, Japan. The 2006 Moomba Parade will pay tribute to various exciting milestones such as 50 years since the staging of the Melbourne Olympics, reinforcing our title as the events capital of Australia.
